The Nerds are joined this week by the wonderful Kavin Senapathy, Forbes contributor, Author of Fearbade, Grounded parents, March against myths and finally Shill for tinyARgo. What are we talking about? Well the quite frankly bizarre beliefs of David Avocado Wolfe.
In the state of Texas a clinic offers what some might call a miracle cure for cancer. The man behind this clinic is Dr Burzynski who claims to have discovered an underlying physiological difference between cancer patients and healthy people. Using quite frankly backward logic he has been opening ‘clinical trials’ using molecules he identified. The problem… There seems to be no clear scientific proof that these molecules work while evidence they harm. His clinic also charges patient (in the region of thousands of dollars) to be entered into these trials, something which is almost unheard of. The practices of the Burzynski clinic have raised many eyebrows in the scientific and medical community. To talk about the clinic Myles and James are joined by Ross from Brisbane skeptics.
Myles and James are joined for a totally wizard podcast by Vicky Foster. Vicky is an advocate and active cancer researcher. Why haven’t we cured cancer, what is cancer and does cannabis ‘cure’ cancer?
Buck is back this time to ask the nerds about their favourite examples of bad science and ‘science’.
Myles and James are joined by Chris Peters from the charity Sense About Science.
Myles and James are delighted to be joined by Martymer81 to talk about Spirit “science”. As Marty said almost everything said is stupid and word salad.
What do you people think? Would you have like to see us debunk ideas, or as we said this is this a fair representation of the bunkin.
Having spoken about this before and after the show, it is a anomaly that defines explanation, mutually exclusive ideas coupled with fancy graphics.
This week Myles and James are joined by Gaz from the Leicester Skeptics in the Pub and Axis Mundi talks about his personal experience with alternative treatments for cancer. James and Myles try to see what changed Gaz’s mind and how he came to understand that he was not helping himself by refusing ‘western’ medicine.
