Bought is a 2015 Documentary in which Tony Bark (Quicksliver from Xmen not the MArvel extended universe) tries to tie together all sorts of health based conspiracy theories. The films titular idea is that big pharma is paying to spread diseases. This frankly idiotic idea is repeatedly asserted by a cavalcade of the under qualified, misrepresented, and down right morons.

Myles feels like he needs to vent ok, let’s all just let him get this off his chest and be cool right? In this weeks TLoNs Myles recounts his experiences in giving a GMO evidence based talk to the skeptics in the pub throughout the UK. He thinks it shows a underbelly in the skeptic moment of people who cheery pick science while James holds more of a direct position that those people are likely not skeptics.
The nerds are joined by their good friend Natalie, from the science enthusiast podcast as well as the creator of the Science Moms movie. Natalie gave the nerds a sneak peak at her film and was gracious enough to talk to us about it.

Well it was bound to happen at some point, Myles and James go through some of the best bits of the Food Babe youtube channel. Food Babe obsession with bad sounding chemicals underlines her lack of understanding chemistry. Her public campaigns to ban ingredients that are seemingly chosen by her inability to pronounce them has given her great exposure. This exposure has become a double sided sword opening her up to criticism from the scientific community. Oh and Civet’s aren’t cats
Myles and James review the recent report from the WHO’s IARC devision on glyphosate. In May 2015 the IARC released a press release detailing their findings on 5 herbicides, one being glyphosate, the active ingredient in roundup. This report is a shockingly poor example of scientific reporting and is written in such a manner to mislead the readers. The authors use of words and lack of citations is of real concern and paints an unfair, potentially biased view on the safety of glyphosate.
